The Coal Ridge Titans will square off against the Battle Mountain Huskies at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Coal Ridge has 11 straight wins, Battle Mountain has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Saturday, Coal Ridge made easy work of Basalt and carried off a 10-2 victory. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by six runs or more this season.

Ben Simons made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jakson Slade was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Julian Perez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Coal Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in 11 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Battle Mountain lost 12-5 to Glenwood Springs on Tuesday.
Jack Reed was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Battle Mountain: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kai Tipton, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.
Coal Ridge pushed their record up to 15-2-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Battle Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Coal Ridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Battle Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Coal Ridge's way against Battle Mountain when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Coal Ridge made off with an 11-5 win. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
