While Russell didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-22-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Morgan County Cougars on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won five in a row.

Kanenan Jacobs looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Elijah Hankins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Jayden Frasure was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

Russell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .381 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Russell's record now sits at 5-0. As for Morgan County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.
