It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the West Tallahatchie Choctaws can now relate to. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 33-16 to Resurrection Catholic. West Tallahatchie lost against Resurrection Catholic in their previous head to head back in November of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 54-20 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why West Tallahatchie lost, one person who can't be blamed is Issac Day. Despite the final result, he rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 74 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
Daniel Pickens was his usual excellent self, rushing for 121 yards and three touchdowns, while also picking up 40 receiving yards.
West Tallahatchie's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Resurrection Catholic, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.
West Tallahatchie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Resurrection Catholic will square off against Velma Jackson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Velma Jackson has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 538 points over their last 11 matchups.
