The Lincoln Lutheran Warriors lost against the Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Lincoln Lutheran received a tough blow as they fell 48-33 to Grand Island Central Catholic. While losing is never fun, Lincoln Lutheran can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Grand Island Central Catholic is ranked seventh).
Lincoln Lutheran's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jenna Luebbe, who scored 13 points. That was a full 39.4% of Lincoln Lutheran's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ava Stroud, who scored nine points.
Grand Island Central Catholic got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maggie Herbek out in front who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Herbek scored 15 or more points. Anna Tibbetts was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine assists and four steals.
Lincoln Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Grand Island Central Catholic, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.
Lincoln Lutheran will be playing at home against Parkview Christian on Tuesday. As for Grand Island Central Catholic, they will face off against St. Cecilia at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. Cecilia is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
