The Steinbrenner Warriors will challenge the Sumner Stingrays at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last five games Steinbrenner has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Wednesday, Steinbrenner needed a bit of extra time to put away Berkeley Prep. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Buccaneers, sneaking past 6-4.
Lilly Patton spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Caila Mility was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Brooklyn Smith also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Sumner had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Stingrays, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
Aliyanis Stubbs made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Stubbs was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Sumner let Victoria Rudolph and Jaelyn Joiner run wild. Rudolph scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Joiner scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Sa'Myra Cameron was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Steinbrenner pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Sumner, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Steinbrenner has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sumner struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Steinbrenner skirted past Sumner 6-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Stingrays have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
