Hampshire came out on top against Central on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Whip-Purs blew past the Rockets 7-0. The result was nothing new for the Whip-Purs, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Wilson Wemhoff made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Wemhoff wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Shane Pfeiffer, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and four RBI.

Hampshire is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Central, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 14-12.

Coming up, Hampshire will face off against Conant at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Central will be paying especially close attention to the Whip-Purs' contest: after the Whip-Purs face off against the Cougars, they'll take on Central again at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
