The Canutillo Eagles entered their tilt with the Jefferson Silver Foxes with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Canutillo claimed a resounding 51-0 win over Jefferson at home. The result was nothing new for Canutillo, who have now won five matches by 28 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canutillo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mathew Gasca, who rushed for 85 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Shai Alva, who rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Canutillo's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Jefferson, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Canutillo will head out on the road to face off against El Paso at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for El Paso: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Canutillo has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. Jefferson will take on Burges at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
