The Airport Eagles won the last time they faced the Midland Valley Mustangs, and things went their way on Friday too. Airport secured a 47-41 W over the Mustangs.
Airport's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Angel Mayes, who scored 16 points along with three blocks. Another player making a difference was Santana Reese, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
When it comes to explaining why Midland Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zykeya West. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaina Dowling, who scored eight points.
Airport's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-8. As for Midland Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Airport will take on the Thoroughbreds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (South Aiken is ranked 85th, while the Eagles are ranked 93rd). As for Midland Valley, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Fighting Green Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Aiken focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
