The ED White Commanders's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Stanton Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully ED White focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only ED White walked away with it. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 67-33 victory over the Rams. With that win, ED White brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.
Elijah Sublett and Jamal Scott were among the main playmakers for ED White as the former scored nine points along with six steals and the latter scored 25 points along with two steals. Sublett hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jacorri Lavoile, who scored five points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Stanton only won by three when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 39-point they dealt Florida School for the Deaf & Blind last Wednesday. Stanton claimed a resounding 52-13 victory over Florida School for the Deaf & Blind at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Stanton.
Raza Cottey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. David Burton was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five steals.
ED White's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Stanton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.
Thursday's game is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: ED White have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Stanton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
ED White strolled past Stanton in their previous matchup back in December of 2019 by a score of 66-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for ED White since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
