Baseball Recap: Routt Catholic Has No Trouble Against Pleasant Hill/Western

Routt Catholic won against North Greene on Tuesday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Everything went the Rockets' way against the Pleasant Hill/Western Wolves as they made off with a 14-0 win. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Pleasant Hill/Western's batters probably weren't too happy with Samuel Long, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (he gave up a single walk).

At the plate, Jace Lautemann and Talon Thompson did most of the damage at the plate: Lautemann went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Thompson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits Lautemann has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Eli Olson, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Routt Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.

Routt Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Pleasant Hill/Western, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Routt Catholic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 win against Macomb on the 25th. As for Pleasant Hill/Western, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 17-0 defeat against Seymour on the 26th.
