Kylie Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Southeastern's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ava Cyrus, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Meigs never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Dawson-Bryant with a sharp 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Marauders, who have now won 20 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Natalie Goode's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Meigs let Bella Roush and Aubrey Newell run wild. Roush went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI, while Newell went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That triple marked the first that Newell has hit this season.
Meigs has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Southeastern, their record now sits at 20-8.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southeastern hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386. However, it's not like Meigs struggles in that department as they've averaged .415. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
