The Chico Panthers entered their tilt with the Shasta Wolves with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Chico took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-21 victory over Shasta. Considering Chico has won three matchups by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Dion Coleman, who rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also picked up 65 receiving yards. Coleman really tore up the turf during one magnificent 84-yard run. Another player making a difference was Azari Cruz, who threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Justin Polley, who threw for 163 yards and two touchdowns. Ryder May was another key contributor, rushing for 132 yards and a touchdown.
Chico's win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.7 points per game. As for Shasta, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.
Chico will head out on the road to face off against Enterprise at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Enterprise is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Shasta, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Red Bluff at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
