After 11 games on the road, Newman International Academy is heading back home. They will take on the DasCHE Spartans at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Newman International Academy posted their biggest victory since December 1, 2023 two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Advantage Academy 53-17 on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-6.
Meanwhile, DasCHE came tearing into Saturday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against Fort Worth THESA as DasCHE made off with a 75-53 victory. Given DasCHE's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Fort Worth THESA is ranked 648th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
DasCHE relied on the efforts of Kaleb Jackson, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Davon Smith, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jackson has scored all season. Tristan Clark was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Newman International Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for DasCHE, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.
Newman International Academy was dealt a bruising 77-46 defeat at the hands of DasCHE in their previous matchup back in November of 2022.
