Softball Recap: Peck Has No Trouble Against Deckerville

Peck's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Deckerville Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 14 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ryleigh Ureel made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Collins, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Aubrey Martinez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Peck is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Deckerville, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-8.

Peck will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair will be back at it again later today.
