The Peru Tigers will head out to take on the Wes-Del Warriors at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Peru is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Peru came out on top against Northfield on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Tigers walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Norsemen. The game was the first time the Tigers have beaten the Norsemen on their field since May 15, 2019.
Lucas Rodriguez looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Peru got a big performance out of Reis Bellar, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. Lucas Musser was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Wes-Del fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Elwood on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 7-6.
Eli Sherfy was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Sherfy was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Wes-Del's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 1-9 when he doesn't).
Sherfy wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Hyre, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.
Wes-Del has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Peru, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 6-3.
Peru got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Wes-Del by a conclusive 16-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
