Interlachen has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Union County Fightin' Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Interlachen will be strutting in after a win while Union County will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Interlachen didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Crescent City, but they still walked away with a 43-37 victory.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Interlachen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kemontae Nixon, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds. Nixon hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Ja'Marion Morris, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Union County unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 55-48 to Trenton.
Despite the defeat, Union County got a solid performance out of Thomas Williams, who scored 25 points. That was a full 52.1% of Union County's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Johnte Nichols was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Interlachen's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Union County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Interlachen hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 52.1 points per game. It's a different story for Union County, though, as they've been averaging only 53.4 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Interlachen came out on top in a nail-biter against Union County when the teams last played back in December of 2023, sneaking past 49-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Interlachen since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
