After two games on the road, Cheshire Academy is heading back home. They will take on the Avon Old Farms Beavers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Cheshire Academy is ranked fourth, while Avon Old Farms is ranked sixth).
Last Friday, Cheshire Academy came up short against Suffield Academy and fell 20-13. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cheshire Academy in their matchups with Suffield Academy: they've now lost four in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Dante Reno, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and also threw for 227 yards and a touchdown while completing 72% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Reynolds, who picked up 131 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Avon Old Farms put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They put the hurt on Salisbury School with a sharp 41-21 victory.
Cheshire Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Avon Old Farms, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
Everything came up roses for Cheshire Academy against Avon Old Farms in their previous matchup back in October of 2015 as the squad secured a 42-14 victory. Will Cheshire Academy repeat their success, or does Avon Old Farms have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
