On Wednesday, Taylorsville came up short against Maple Mountain and fell 55-45.
When it comes to explaining why Taylorsville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jenna Sterzer. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 19 rebounds. The game was Sterzer's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Harrison, who scored 11 points along with 4 steals.
Even though they lost, Taylorsville were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maple Mountain only pulled down five.
Maple Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leah Bailey, who scored 16 points along with 8 assists and 8 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaynee Tanner, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds.
Taylorsville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Maple Mountain, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Taylorsville will head out on the road to face off against Clearfield at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Maple Mountain, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Payson at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Payson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
