Volleyball Recap: Lutheran Starts Season with Victory at Home

Lutheran gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Castle View Sabercats. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Sabercats, too.

Lutheran was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 26-24, 19-25, 27-25.

Lutheran was led to victory by Kate Wilson and Madeline Miller. Wilson had four aces and three digs, while Miller had 17 digs and one assist. Those 17 digs gave Miller a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Lutheran was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Castle View only served nine aces.

Kate Erickson and Bradli Brown certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Erickson had 11 digs and four assists, while Brown had eight digs and one assist.

Castle View's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Lutheran will challenge Jefferson Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Castle View, they will face off against Chaparral at 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
