The Crown Point Bulldogs fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Penn Kingsmen on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Kingsmen 54-49. Crown Point's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Ziolkowski, who scored 24 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. The game was Ziolkowski's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rae Holok, who scored 15 points.
Penn got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jessa Troy out in front who scored 13 points along with 3 steals. Anna McCullough was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Crown Point's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Penn, they have yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 6-3 record.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crown Point will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Lake Station Edison at 7:00 p.m. on December 4th. Lake Station Edison is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Penn, they will head out on the road to face off against Mishawaka Marian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
