The Lake Park Lancers will take on the Saint Viator Lions at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Lake Park earned a 7-4 win over Addison Trail. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.
Patrick St. John spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Lake Park is 7-3 when he allows at most one walk, but 11-13 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Max Alvarado, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Lake Park's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 13-16 when he doesn't). Rocco Jones was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Saint Viator ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Joliet Catholic 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since May 1st.
Brandon Thomsen was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double. Another player making a difference was Jacob Oberwise, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Saint Viator now has a winning record of 17-16. As for Lake Park, their victory bumped their record up to 18-16.
Everything went Lake Park's way against Saint Viator in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Lake Park made off with a 20-8 win. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
