The Cougars will square off against the Warriors at 3:45 p.m. Haddam-Killingworth's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Valley Regional's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Emma Giaccone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Haddam-Killingworth saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caley Napoletano, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Valley Regional entered their match against Somers on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Warriors fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 9-8.
Juliana Spencer was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Nataly Pavon-Avila was another key player, earning three runs and four stolen bases.
Haddam-Killingworth suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 6-2. As for Valley Regional, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 8-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Haddam-Killingworth has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Valley Regional struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Haddam-Killingworth's way against Valley Regional in their previous matchup back in April, as Haddam-Killingworth made off with a 10-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
