Southeastern and Huntington are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Southeastern Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Huntington Huntsmen at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Southeastern comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Saturday, Southeastern came up short against Westfall and fell 56-48. That's two games in a row now that Southeastern has lost by exactly eight points.
Despite the loss, Southeastern got a solid performance out of Lane Williams, who scored 11 points along with five assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Pfieffer, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Huntington also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Waverly by a score of 39-30. While losing is never fun, Huntington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while Waverly is ranked 201st).
Southeastern's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Huntington, they bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Southeastern couldn't quite finish off Huntington when the teams last played back in January and fell 64-62. Can Southeastern avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
