Marian Catholic's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 53-40 to Southern Columbia Area. Marian Catholic was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Southern Columbia Area apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Julius Currie and Jacob Miller certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Currie scored 15 points, while Miller scored ten points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of James Rodino, who scored four points.
Marian Catholic has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Southern Columbia Area, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marian Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Our Lady of Lourdes Regional at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. As for Southern Columbia Area, they will head out on the road to challenge Loyalsock Township at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Loyalsock Township's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
