For the first time this season, Reno will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will look to defend their home field on Friday against the McQueen Lancers at 7:00 p.m. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 832 yards in their previous games.
Reno is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Spanish Springs, who was ranked fourth at the time (Reno was ranked 13th). The Huskies fell 33-25 to the Cougars on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Huskies in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost eight in a row.

Defeat or not, Reno got some senior leadership from Braylon Wilson and Chase Langbehn. Wilson threw for 319 yards and four TDs, while Langbehn picked up 107 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 319 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Wilson. A healthy portion of Wilson's aerial production (88 yards to be exact) also went to Cohen Planeta.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for McQueen, who bounced back after a loss on the road on September 5th. They took their game two weeks ago with ease, bagging a 44-6 win over Damonte Ranch. Considering the Lancers have won three matchups by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Reno better keep an eye on Nason Rodriguez. He was instrumental in McQueen's win, rushing for 208 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Rodriguez showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 65 yards. Ryder Tucker was another key player, throwing for 120 yards and two TDs on only nine passes.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something McQueen proved: they limited Damonte Ranch to a paltry 2.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Brooks Porter for the heroic effort on defense: he. McQueen didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.7.
McQueen didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Keagan Brenner and Isaiah Beck. Brenner has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last nine times he's played. Another thorn in Damonte Ranch's side was Porter, who picked up a sack, made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended one pass.
Reno's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for McQueen, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Reno has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 201.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like McQueen struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 201.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Reno was able to grind out a solid victory over McQueen in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 35-28. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
