The Brazoswood Buccaneers will head out on the road to face off against the Clear Lake Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brazoswood comes in on a streak of failing to score more than ten points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Two weeks ago, Brazoswood was beaten by Clear Falls 42-10. While losing is never fun, Brazoswood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 559th, while Clear Falls is ranked 122nd).
The losing side was boosted by Shaydon Coulter, who picked up 98 receiving yards and a touchdown. Coulter's longest reception was for an incredible 79 yards.
Meanwhile, Clear Lake's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 23-6 fall against Clear Falls.
Brazoswood's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.7 points per game. As for Clear Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Everything came up roses for Brazoswood against Clear Lake in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 52-24 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brazoswood since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
