Fitzgerald is 5-0 against Jeff Davis since November of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jeff Davis Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Fitzgerald didn't have too much trouble with Worth County at home as they won 69-50.
Fitzgerald's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Victor Copeland led the charge by scoring 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Harris, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Jeff Davis was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 59-55 to Cook. Jeff Davis has not had much luck with Cook recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Amari Jackson, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was A.J. Hunt, who scored 11 points.
Fitzgerald is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season. As for Jeff Davis, they dropped their record down to 6-17 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
