Academy of Aerospace and Engineering is 1-6 against Capital Prep since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Last Wednesday, Academy of Aerospace and Engineering ended up a good deal behind Weaver and lost 75-57. While losing is never fun, Academy of Aerospace and Engineering can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Weaver is ranked 23rd).
Meanwhile, Capital Prep scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They came out on top against Libertas Academy Charter by a score of 79-66. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Capital Prep.
Capital Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Amare Cockfield out in front who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 4 assists. Cockfield has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Syre Gillespie, who scored 27 points along with seven steals.
Academy of Aerospace and Engineering's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Capital Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Academy of Aerospace and Engineering came up short against Capital Prep in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 55-51. Can Academy of Aerospace and Engineering avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
