Los Alamos is 9-1 against Pojoaque Valley since June of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Hilltoppers are taking a road trip to face off against the Elks/Elkettes at 10:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Los Alamos has three straight wins, Pojoaque Valley has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Los Alamos had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Espanola Valley on Wednesday. The Hilltoppers put the hurt on the Sundevils with a sharp 11-5 victory.
Malaya Haynes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.

Meanwhile, Pojoaque Valley scored first but ultimately less than Taos in their match on Wednesday. They lost 14-4 to the Tigers. The game snapped a strange streak: the last three times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Lilah Herrera made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Izabella Lujan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Los Alamos hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .440. However, it's not like Pojoaque Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .355. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
