Basketball Recap: Fort Lauderdale Comes Up Short

Fort Lauderdale suffered their biggest defeat since December 3, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against the North Broward Prep Eagles, falling 64-43. The Flying L's have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Despite the loss, Fort Lauderdale still got an impressive performance from Antonio Bonami, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 21 points and seven rebounds. With that strong performance, Bonami is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Antwain Smith was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

Leading North Broward Prep to victory were Samuel Cano and Jayden Smith. Cano dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Jayden posted seven points in addition to nine boards and five assists. That's the most rebounds Smith has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Max Gressle, who put up seven points.

Fort Lauderdale's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for North Broward Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-11.

Fort Lauderdale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 83-56 victory against Piper on the 21st. As for North Broward Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-64 win against St. Thomas Aquinas on the 20th.
