Baseball Game Preview: Windermere Wolverines vs. Creekside Knights

The Windermere Wolverines will be taking part in a tournament against the Creekside Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Windermere 2.5, Creekside 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Windermere is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Florida's top teams: Hagerty, who was ranked fourth at the time (Windermere was ranked fifth). Windermere narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Hagerty 4-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolverines.

Connor Fink spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Windermere's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Joey Waddingham, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Waddingham a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Creekside had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Huskies 6-4.

Drew Williams looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Michael Bysheim, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Windermere's record is now 13-2. As for Creekside, their record now sits at 8-6.

Creekside's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Windermere has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454.
