The Westfield Shamrocks will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Zionsville Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, everything went Westfield's way against Pendleton Heights as Westfield made off with a 64-39 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Westfield.
Westfield can attribute much of their success to Trey Buchanan, who scored 21 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Buchanan has scored at least 25% of Westfield's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Harvey, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Zionsville gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener last Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-40 victory over Carmel. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, as Zionsville did.
Maguire Mitchell went supernova for Zionsville, scoring 29 points. Jackson Tielker was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Westfield's win lifted them to 2-0 while Pendleton Heights' loss dropped them down to 0-3.
Westfield couldn't quite finish off Zionsville in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 and fell 43-40. Thankfully for Westfield, Logan Imes (who scored 21 points along with 7 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
