The Elite Scholars Academy Royal Knights's road trip will continue as they head out to face the McNair Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Elite Scholars Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday.
Elite Scholars Academy pushed their score all the way to 62, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Atlanta Classical Academy 66-62. Elite Scholars Academy found out winning isn't easy when you make six fewer threes than your opponent.
The losing side was boosted by Jordan Miller, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerel Clark, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, McNair's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 19th straight defeat. They were dealt a 76-39 defeat at the hands of Eagle's Landing Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, McNair can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 517th, while the Chargers are ranked 107th).
Elite Scholars Academy's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-18. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for McNair, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-23.
Everything came up roses for Elite Scholars Academy against the Mustangs in their previous matchup two weeks ago as the team secured a 83-48 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elite Scholars Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
