Baseball Game Preview: St. Frances Academy Panthers vs. Concordia Prep Saints

St. Frances Academy hasn't had much luck against Concordia Prep recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The St. Frances Academy Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Concordia Prep Saints at 4:00 p.m. St. Frances Academy knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Concordia Prep likes a good challenge.

While St. Frances Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Wise 14-2 on Friday. Considering the Panthers have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

St. Frances Academy got a massive performance out of Mason Hodges, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Hodges is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Yates, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

St. Frances Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .577 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Concordia Prep came up short against Perry Hall Christian two weeks ago, falling 10-3.

Concordia Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonathan Couser, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Couser has posted since back in April of 2024.

St. Frances Academy pushed their record up to 4-0-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Concordia Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

St. Frances Academy couldn't quite finish off Concordia Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can St. Frances Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
