Even though the Harris County Tigers scored an imposing 71 points on Friday, the Central Hawks still came out on top. Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Harris County and snuck past 73-71. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Central.
Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Demarcus White led the charge by scoring 22 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which White has scored at least 25% of Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Semaji Copeland, who scored 16 points.
Harris County's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cameron Phillips, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Shay Broome was another key contributor, almost dropping a triple-double on 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists.
Central pushed their record up to 4-1 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Harris County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will square off against Marion County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Harris County, they will head out on the road to face off against Carver at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
