The La Jolla Vikings have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Central Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Hopefully La Jolla focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
Last Friday, La Jolla lost to Clairemont at home by a decisive 65-51 margin.
Defeat or not, La Jolla got some senior leadership from Michael Contreras and Elijah Vaz. Contreras scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Vaz. scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Diehl, who scored six points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Central's strategy against Southwest EC on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Central blew Southwest EC out of the water with a 69-36 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-22.
It was another big night for Jared Martin, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Arturo Estrada, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
La Jolla's loss dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season.
Fans should be in for an exciting game on Wednesday as the two teams are among the highest scoring teams in the league right now. La Jolla hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 61.5 points per game. However, it's not like Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 56.2 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
