The Jefferson Panthers will head out on the road to square off against Whitehall/Willow Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Jefferson is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 13 games.
Even though Ennis scored an imposing 64 points on Thursday, Jefferson still came out on top. Jefferson walked away with a 73-64 win over the Mustangs.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jefferson to victory, but perhaps none more so than MacKenzie Layng, who shot 4-for-9 from downtown and almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, nine rebounds, and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Layng has scored all season. Cameron Toney was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Whitehall/Willow Creek fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Three Forks by a score of 61-50 on Thursday.
Jefferson's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Whitehall/Willow Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
Everything went Jefferson's way against the when the teams last played back in January as the Panthers made off with a 58-37 win. Will Jefferson repeat their success, or do the have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
