Lake Park had to settle for second on Monday, but Gianna Furlano sure wasn't going down easily. Furlano was dialed in as she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Considering she played a big game the last time she faced off against Wheaton-Warrenville South back in April of 2024, the result shouldn't come as too huge a shock. Furlano has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Furlano and Lake Park are taking a road trip to face off against St. Charles North at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
