McComb and South Pike are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Tigers will host the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

McComb found their leader in sophomore Tramarion Davis, who threw for 239 yards and three TDs on only 16 passes, and also rushed for 40 yards. Broderick Peters was another key player, picking up 94 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, South Pike came up short against Columbia on Friday and fell 49-36. The Eagles were up 22-8 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Despite the defeat, South Pike saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Douglas Wansley rushed for 131 yards and two scores while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Wansley is becoming a predictor of the Eagles' success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Antwaun Adams, who picked up 96 receiving yards and one TD.

McComb's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for South Pike, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

McComb might still be hurting after the 30-8 loss they got from South Pike when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Tigers, Jayvon Jackson (who rushed for 81 yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
