Basketball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty lost against Faith Lutheran back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Liberty Patriots fell just short of the Faith Lutheran Crusaders by a score of 44-41. While the Patriots didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Crusaders 11-7 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Liberty lost, don't look at Satsuki Bradley. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Bradley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Neviah Nick, who had nine points.

Faith Lutheran was led to victory by Emma Herpin and Caylyn Young. Herpin dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Young put up 17 points and seven rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Herpin has scored at least a third of Faith Lutheran's points.

This is the second loss in a row for Liberty and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Faith Lutheran, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Liberty won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Carbon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Faith Lutheran, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll challenge Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Faith Lutheran is facing Varsity Opponent at the right time seeing as Varsity Opponent is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
