Piqua has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Greenville Green Wave at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, Piqua was the victim of a tough 58-38 loss at the hands of the Bison. While losing is never fun, Piqua can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 684th, while the Bison are ranked 341st).
Meanwhile, Greenville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 56-37 bruising from Fairborn.
Despite their loss, Greenville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chace Drew, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Drew Hamilton was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Piqua has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Greenville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17.
Piqua came up short against the Green Wave in their previous meeting back in January, falling 53-48. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Greenville's Liam Jasenski, who scored 18 points. Now that Piqua knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
