Omaha North has gone a perfect 10-0 against Bryan recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Vikings will square off against the Bears. Omaha North is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Omaha North proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by nine) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Tekamah-Herman, sneaking past 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since April 4th.
Colin Kinman was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Omaha North is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise. Kinman was also solid in the batter's box, earning two runs and one stolen base.
In other pitching news, Ethan Hayes looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
Back at the plate, Nate French was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Chance Kinman, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bryan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Auburn on Saturday.
Like Omaha North, Bryan also got a great game from a two-way player: Turner Marlowe. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Marlowe was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karol Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.
Bryan's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-17. As for Omaha North, their record now sits at 12-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Omaha North has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bryan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Omaha North beat Bryan 11-7 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
