The Gig Harbor Tides struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the North Thurston Rams had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The game between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Gig Harbor falling 58-43. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points they have scored all season.
Gig Harbor lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Finley Wyman, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Kaliyah Miller, who scored nine points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Thurston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Soraya Ogaldez, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Ogaldez has scored at least a third of North Thurston's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Lee, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Gig Harbor's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for North Thurston, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gig Harbor's road trip will continue as they head out to face Peninsula at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. Hopefully Peninsula focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Friday. As for North Thurston, they will head out on the road to take on Timberline at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Timberline is on a six-game streak of home wins, North Thurston a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
