Hudson has gone 8-2 against Menomonie recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Raiders will face off against the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated (Hudson has three wins , while Menomonie has four dating back to last season).
Hudson barely beat Marshfield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Raiders put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 12-2 victory on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their two-run performance the game before.
Betgen Aune looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Jace Mataczynski was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Silas Heisler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Menomonie was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Altoona. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Rex Drout looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Menomonie let Taylor Mars and Mitchell Scribner run wild. Mars went 2-for-3 with one home run, while Scribner scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Scribner also put up a triple, which was his first of the season. Charlie Mikesell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Menomonie hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters every time they've taken the field this season.
Hudson's record is now 3-0. As for Menomonie, their record now sits at 4-0.
Hudson took their victory against Menomonie when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2 score. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
