The Libertas Academy Charter Lions had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 79-66 to Capital Prep on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Capital Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amare Cockfield, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 4 assists. Cockfield is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Syre Gillespie, who scored 27 points along with seven steals.
Libertas Academy Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Capital Prep, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.
Libertas Academy Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Capital Prep's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Academy of Aerospace and Engineering at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th.
