Twin Loup were able to grind out a solid victory over Stuart on Thursday, winning 52-38. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Twin Loup as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Twin Loup got off to a slow start in their game last week, but they had no such trouble against Stuart as they cruised to a 19-point first half. As for Stuart, they scored 32 to put Twin Loup at a 19-32 disadvantage heading into the break. The Twin Loup offense took control in the second half, however, scoring 33 points.
Twin Loup found Twin Loup's leader in underclassman sophomore Quade Young, who rushed for 237 yards and 5 touchdowns. Young has been a consistent playmaker for Twin Loup as this was the 3rd good game in a row from him. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse junior Bryce Lamb, who racked up nine tackles. The win bumped Twin Loup's record up to 2-5. Stuart are on a five-game losing streak that has brought their record down to 2-5.
Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Twin Loup will take on St. Mary's at home next week. St. Mary's took a loss in their last matchup and are no doubt out to reverse Twin Loup's good fortune. As for Stuart, they will face off against Central Valley.
