After a string of three wins, the Concord Minutemen's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 61-26 loss at the hands of Warsaw. While losing is never fun, Concord can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Warsaw is ranked 32nd).
Concord's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Claire Campanello, who scored five points along with five rebounds, and Dominique Stilley who scored no points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Concord struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Warsaw racked up 15 assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Warsaw to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joslyn Bricker, who scored 20 points along with five assists and three steals. Bricker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooke Zartman, who scored 19 points along with five steals.
Concord's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Warsaw, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord will face off against Edwardsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Warsaw, they will head out on the road to take on Goshen at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Goshen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday.
