Basketball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Bonners Ferry's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Bonners Ferry unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to the Reardan Screaming Eagles 59-53.

Despite the loss, Bonners Ferry saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Taren Bateman went 9 for 18 on her way to 23 points and six steals. The game was Bateman's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexys Mierke, who posted seven points and six steals.

Even though they lost, Bonners Ferry smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Bonners Ferry's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Reardan, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bonners Ferry will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Libby at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Bonners Ferry is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season. As for Reardan, they will square off against Warden at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Reardan is facing Warden at the right time seeing as Warden is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
