It was a proper cat-fight when Kingman Academy took on Joseph City on Saturday. Kingman Academy was the clear victor by a 20-3 margin over Joseph City. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Brayden Russell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Kingman Academy is undefeated when Russell posts two or more runs, but 2-7-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, Pax McFadyen was a standout: he fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Hopper, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Kingman Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Mohave Accelerated narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Madison Highland Prep 7-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.
Martin Abundiz was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-8. As for Kingman Academy, their record now sits at 6-7-1.
Mohave Accelerated's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Kingman Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. It's a different story for Mohave Accelerated, though, as they've only averaged .342. Will they be able to contain Kingman Academy's hitters?
Everything went Kingman Academy's way against Mohave Accelerated in their previous meeting back in February, as Kingman Academy made off with a 13-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kingman Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
