Northwest Crossroads Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Marco Castro's Big Game Leads Kankakee Valley over Highland
Marco Castro helped snap Kankakee Valley's five-game losing streak. Nobody could stop Castro on Friday as he rushed for 213 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 32 receiving yards. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 105 rushing yards dating back to last season.
If history really does repeat itself, Castro might just drop another big game when he faces off against Munster on Friday. When Castro last faced the Mustangs back in October of 2023, he rushed for 320 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry.

Willy Shearer Goes Supernova in Hobart Loss
Hobart was sadly handed a loss on Friday, but Willy Shearer did his best to prevent it. Shearer was dynamite, rushing for 79 yards and three touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Hobart's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).
Unfortunately for Hammond Morton, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Shearer. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Shearer saw the Governors), he rushed for 230 yards and five touchdowns.

Lowell Gets a Boost from Kalwinski in 36-19 Victory
Winning always takes teamwork, but on Friday Brody Kalwinski stepped things up a notch to give Lowell the 'W'. Kalwinski turned in nothing short of a gem, rushing for 43 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 123 yards and a touchdown on only seven passes.
Munster had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Kalwinski it was a similar story. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Kalwinski saw the Mustangs), he rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 39 yards and a touchdown.

Diego Arroyo Delivers Best Performance of Season
Kankakee Valley was led to victory by Diego Arroyo, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Arroyo rushed for 22 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 127 yards and a touchdown on only ten passes.
Highland's probably not too fond of Arroyo given he always seems to get the better of them. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Arroyo saw the Trojans), he threw for 268 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes.

Colton Scott Turns in Season-Best Performance
On Friday, Lowell got the W thanks in part to Colton Scott playing the best football he has all season. Scott rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
Scott must have Munster's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Scott saw the Mustangs), he rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
